Francisco Javier Expósito González

Lecturer in Physics

Department of Physics

University of La Laguna

Canary Islands

Dr. Francisco Javier Expósito holds a Master in Environmental Management, speciality in Environmental Assessment at the University of La Laguna since 1995.

He got his Ph.D. at University of La Laguna in 1999. The title of his Ph.D. dissertation was: “Determination of aerosol optical thickness by remote sensing techniques in the Canary basin (abstract in Spanish)”. With this dissertation he obtained the Doctorate Special Award of the University of La Laguna in the Division of Experimental and Technique Sciences for that scholar year.

In the year 2000 he spent a six month post-doc and scientific collaboration stay in the Joint Research Centre at Ispra (Varese), Italy.

Since 2001 he is Lecturer in the Physics Department of the University of La Laguna.

Dr. Expósito research interest is mainly focused in the study of atmospheric aerosols by remote sensing techniques:

·      Development of regional algorithms to determine the aerosol optical thickness, size distributions and properties.

·      Aerosol radiative forcing.

·      Attenuation of the UV radiation due to aerosols.

·      Measurements with lidar techniques.

·      Impact of aerosols in air quality.

·      Current projects

·      Finished projects
